Outline (in English)

In this course, students are expected to carefully read Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (1818, rev. 1831) and discuss the text and its relevant themes and issues. The course also refers to films and studies on the author and her work. The goals of this course are to learn the basics of interpretation of literature and attempt a new interpretation. Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend four hours to understand the course content. The final grade will be calculated according to the following process: participation in discussion (30%), presentation (30%) and term-end essay (40%).
