Outline (in English)

Course Outline: In this class, we will read The Tale of Genji and discuss issues related to its content.
Learning Objectives: The objective is to develop competency in the following four areas:
- reading ancient texts accurately;
- discovering and deeply investigating problems;
- giving clear presentations; and
- discussing various issues with others
Learning Activities Outside of the Classroom: Students are expected to read the third part of The Tale of Genji. Preparation and review time will be 2 hours for each class.
Grading Criteria/Policy: Grading will be based on the quality of presentations (50%), and degree of participation in discussion (50%).
