Outline (in English)

【Course outline】
We will read from beginning to end the text of the Part two of Kant's "Religion within the boundaries of mere reason": "Concerning the battle of the good against the evil principle for the dominion over the human being. Here the "Son of God" and the "devil" are discussed, and "miracles" are examined. This "Son of God" is considered the embodiment of Kant's morality (the young Hegel understood Jesus Christ in this way). Through this text reading, the objective is to understand the "Son of God" in terms of Kant's theory of religion and to consider the moral and religious significance of the "Son of God" from various perspectives.

[Learning Objectives]
(1) Understand and discuss the "Son of God" and the "Devil" and "miracles" in Kant's theory of religion, and be able to evaluate them from various perspectives.
(2) Develop reading comprehension skills and writing skills by preparing resumes for seminar presentations.
(3) Develop communication skills to exchange opinions from various viewpoints during question and answer sessions in seminar presentations.
