Outline (in English)
[Course Outline] In this course, students will read and read out various types of articles on many different topics so that they can grow their reading comprehension as well as writing skill. They will enrich their understanding of stories around the world. They also improve their listening and speaking skills using TOEIC listening materials.
[Learning Objectives] The course aims to brush up students' prior skills in reading, listening, writing and speaking.
[Learning activities outside of classroom] Besides preparation for each lesson, students will also be expected to submit the required assignments after each class. Their study time will be more than four hours for a class.
[Grading Criteria] Grading will be decided based on [active participation and assignments (50%)] + [final examination (50%)].

授業の概要と目的（何を学ぶか）Outline and objectives
・英文の新聞記事を読みます。日本を含め世界の様々な場所で起こった事を、英文で書かれた記事の中で読むことにより、読解力及び報道をより多角的に捉える力が増します。また、その中でwritingの参考になることにも意識していきます。
・リスニングテキスト（TOEICテスト用）を使い、listeningとspeakingの力に磨きをかけます。

・時事英語の特徴が分かるようになること
・馴染みのある単語であっても、新しい文脈の中でより深い理解を発見し、それを実際に活用する力をつけること

・教科書の記事の意味を発表しながら、精読（場合によってはペアワークで音読）します。
・毎回、課題を提出することになりますが、フィードバックは後日に行います。
・学期末に、期末試験が実施されます。（期末試験の受験は単位取得のために必須となります。）
・授業計画は授業の展開により、進度、内容に若干の変更もありえます。

成績評価の方法と基準Grading criteria
毎回の授業参加度と課題提出状況（正解率含む）の積み重ねが50％、学期末の「期末試験」が50％という比率で評価します。（課題や試験は、「到達目標」である英文記事の文脈理解が問われるものです。）
