Outline (in English)

(Course outline)
Study the basics of seismic engineering. It is especially important for structural design and disaster prevention.

(Learning Objectives)
In this course, we will learn three basic themes.
(1) Mechanisms and characteristics of earthquakes in Japan
(2) Vibration analysis method
(3) Seismic design method and earthquake resistant reinforcement method (bridge, foundation, underground structure, embankment, etc.)

(Learning activities outside of classroom)
Textbooks are used in class. Prepare the relevant parts in advance.

(Grading Criteria /Policy)
Grades will be evaluated based on midterm reports [60%] and final exams [40%].
Students who are absent 4 or more times will not receive credits (Evaluation D)
