Outline (in English)

Course outline:
Through hands-on seminars touching on all areas in architecture, students will understand the types of studies conducted at university.

Learning Objectives:
The Department of Design Engineering has set as its learning goal the acquisition of "comprehensive design" to create new things while focusing more on the human aspect. In this context, the Department of Architecture aims to nurture individuals who can observe people, things, society, and nature, and who can think about discovering and recognizing problems latent in them. In other words, in addition to conventional skills, the department aims to realize new "beauty" by recognizing history, considering the environment, and taking into account the ethics of engineers. This kind of skill development has been difficult to achieve in the conventional classroom curriculum. Therefore, in this course, various hands-on seminars are conducted under the guidance of all faculty members in order to grasp the basics through practical training, and to understand the fundamentals of the overall architectural framework. Themes are presented by each faculty member. While advancing such understanding, the achievement goal for some students will be to focus on remedial education of basic academic skills such as mathematics and physics.

Learning activities outside of classroom:
Read books (not necessarily architecture)
Read architectural magazines and books
Familiarize yourself with the operation of information equipment.
The standard preparation and review time for this class is 2 hours each.

Grading Criteria /Policy:
Students will be evaluated on their class work and submission of assignments.
