Outline (in English)
Learning Objectives: Students will learn how to conceptualize a building that satisfies the required structural performance and how to evaluate its performance using engineering methods.
Learning Objectives: The course aims to cultivate the ability to understand and apply basic engineering principles for structural planning, and to form the basis for students to engage in graduation research and graduation projects. The course also aims to expose students to the essence of structural design in the process.
Learning activities outside of classroom: Independent study outside of class time, such as research, modeling, and preparation of materials for presentations, is very important. In class time, the main focus is on explaining the progress of the work to date and confirming any questions.
The standard preparation and review time for this class is 2 hours each.
Grading Criteria/Policy: Grading will be based on in-class presentations, final reports (design documents) and final presentations.

要求される構造性能を満足する建築物を構想し，その性能を工学的に検証する方法を学ぶ。
到達目標Goal
構造計画立案のための基本的な工学原理を理解し応用するための能力の涵養をめざすとともに，卒業研究および卒業制作に取り組むための下地を形成することを目標とする。また，その過程で構造デザインの真髄の一端に触れることも目標とする。

はじめに，設計事例を調査し，その拠り所となっている工学原理を整理・研究し，簡単なモデル化によって性能検証する方法を学ぶ。その後，実際に自らが演習を通して要求性能を満足する建築物を構想，検証し，プレゼンテーションする。

調査やモデル作成，発表会のための資料作成など授業時間外の自主学習が非常に重要である。授業時間内では，これまでの作業進捗状況の説明と疑問点の確認が主体である。
