Outline (in English)
Course outline:
In this course students will review theory and concepts gained from lectures in structural dynamics etc. and consolidate their practical understanding through structural experiments, learning about the relation between form and strength. In addition they will aim to improve skills in engineering design, teamwork and presentations as appropriate to beginning a path towards becoming professional engineers.
Learning Objectives:
Through the experiments, students will acquire the following three skills: 1) the ability to understand stress and deformation in structures, 2) the ability to work cooperatively in a team, and 3) the ability to make logical presentations through reports and other means.
Learning activities outside of classroom:
The standard preparation and review time for this class is 2 hours each.
Grading Criteria/Policy:
Grading will be based on the results of laboratory exercises and laboratory reports.

授業の概要と目的（何を学ぶか）Outline and objectives
構造力学等の講義で修得した理論や知識の復習とそれらの実感を伴った理解のための構造実験を行い，「形と力」の関係について学ぶ。また，技術者（Professional Engineer）としての，エンジニアリングデザイン能力およびチームワーク能力，プレゼンテーション能力の向上を目指す。
到達目標Goal
実験を通して，1)構造物に生じる応力や変形を捉える能力，2)チーム内で協調して作業する能力，3)レポート等による論理的なプレゼンテーション能力，これら3点を修得することを目標とする。

与えられた実験課題に対して，5～6人で構成されるチーム単位で構造模型を作成し，その構造性能を競い合うコンテスト形式で授業を行う。実験課題は第1・第2ラウンドの2つあり，それぞれのラウンドごとで順位に応じた点数を付与し，最終的にその合計点で総合順位を決める。また，ラウンドごとに，設計理念の説明や構造性能に関するレポート作成等によるプレゼンテーションを行う。
