Outline (in English)

Course outline:Students will acquire the basic knowledge necessary for environmental design and learn the process of environmental design experientially by working on specific issues in this lecture.

Learning Objectives: In designing the built environment, students learn the importance of considering both the indoor environment (sound, light, heat, air quality, etc.) and the outdoor environment (local and global environmental conservation, etc.). In addition, students learn to evaluate the built environment quantitatively through environmental simulations. Furthermore, students will learn building environmental design methods that utilize the basic knowledge, simulation techniques, and environmental evaluation skills they have acquired.

Learning activities outside of classroom:Students should actually visit an building with an environmentally conscious design and experience the space. Consider how various environmental elements: light, sound, air (wind flow), heat (warmth, coolness), etc. are controlled to create a comfortable space. At the same time, focus on harmony with the local environment and efforts to preserve the global environment. The standard preparation and review time for this class is 4 hours each.

Grading Criteria /Policy: Grades will be based on a comprehensive evaluation of esquisse, presentation, and portfolio of work. 5 or more absences will not be considered for grading.
