Outline (in English)

Planning appropriate building facilities is essential to ensure occupants' comfort and health and consider energy conservation. The contents of building facilities include water supply, drainage, sanitation, ventilation, air-conditioning, and electrical equipment. Students will practice selecting appropriate facility systems and equipment in class according to given conditions.

Through this class, students will be able to:
(1) Understand building facilities' role in occupant comfort and health.
(2) Understand the roles of electrical, air conditioning, and plumbing systems.
(3) Understand that building equipment is significantly related to the energy consumption of a house.
(4) Read and write a series of equipment drawings of a house.
(5) Select appropriate facility systems and equipment according to the given conditions.

Students are expected to actively prepare for the lecture by investigating the facilities in their homes and familiar buildings in advance. In addition to the textbook, you must prepare for the course by obtaining information such as catalogs and specifications of essential equipment. The standard preparation and review time for this course is 2 hours each.

Drawing exercises will be conducted during the period and submitted each time. The student will be judged comprehensively based on each exercise (30-50%) and presentation (50-70%). Since exercises will be performed during the period and assignments will not be taken home as a rule, those whose total absences and tardies reach five times will not be evaluated.
