Outline (in English)

【Course outline】
In recent years, earthquakes with a seismic intensity of 6 or higher have occurred frequently, and each time they occur, earthquake damage to buildings has been confirmed. On the other hand, the development of earthquake-resistant technologies to reduce earthquake damage, vibration control structures to control damage, and seismic isolation structures to reduce response acceleration has been accelerated, and their effectiveness has been demonstrated.
In this course, students learn the vibration theory of buildings against earthquake motion and the outline of the limit capacity calculation method stipulated in the Building Standard Law, and understand the effectiveness of seismic, vibration control, and seismic isolation structures.
【Learning Objectives】
To solve the dynamic equation of equilibrium of buildings against harmonic external forces and earthquake motion, and to understand the basic vibration characteristics.
To understand the basic vibration characteristics of buildings by solving the dynamic equation of equilibrium of buildings against harmonic external forces and seismic motion.
Theory and effectiveness of seismic, vibration control, and vibration isolation structures.
【Learning activities outside of classroom】
Exercise assignments will be presented on topics requiring focused practice.
The standard preparation and review time for this class is 2 hours each.
【Grading Criteria /Policy】
A mid-term test will be given three times in the lecture, with 30% of the first test, 30% of the second test, and 40% of the third test allocated for grading.
