Outline (in English)

【Course outline】The design studio in the 3-year CD term is positioned as the final stage of the design studio. Therefore, it includes not only architecture, but also tasks that bring architecture into contact with other fields, such as architecture and existing cities, architecture and landscape, and so on. The course is divided into two parts, the first half and the second half, and students continuously pursue a single design theme throughout the semester.
This year's theme is the school as a hub of the community, with the intention of the school becoming the nucleus of the surrounding community. However, since the theme of this project is our own alma mater, we are required to solve problems on an individual basis. In this semester, students will not only develop the ability to quickly create a design concept by making study models and sketches, but will also learn how to draw accurate plans and details. Students can choose the class that best suits their interests. After class placement, students are taught in small groups through studio work (no more than 15 students per class). Students who wish to take a seminar in the planning field must take this course.

【Learning Objectives】
・Recognize social problems and envision architectural answers.
・Understand the physical and social resources of the community.
・To understand the physical and social resources of the community.
・Quantify the quality of the environment and provide feedback on form.
・To acquire skills to reduce environmental impact through layout and façade design.
・To acquire skills to accurately express the design intent.
・Acquire skills to put ideas into shape in a short period of time

【Learning activities outside of classroom】
The University uses a "studio" system where students work in the drafting room during class, rather than in a "studio" style with individual desks, except for the graduate studio, so students are required to make drawings and models at home.
The standard preparation and review time for this class is 2 hours each.

【Grading Criteria /Policy】
The final presentation of the work will be evaluated comprehensively, based on the esquisse and midterm presentations. How students work with their studio instructor each week is an important part of the evaluation.
More than 4 unexcused absences will not be graded.
