Outline (in English)

[Course outline]
In this class, students will learn the process of designing by making drawings and models, and tackling specific problems.

[Learning Objectives]
To understand the basic components of architecture and acquire the skills to form a space by manipulating them.
To understand the correspondence between the program and necessary rooms.
To acquire a sense of scale defined by the individual and the group.
Understand the characteristics of various structures and apply them appropriately.
Understand the necessary building equipment.
Understand the diversity of the surrounding area and acquire skills to harmonize with it.
To acquire skills to express programs and related rooms by using diagrams.

[Learning activities outside of classroom]
It is important not only to look for examples and references from magazines and other sources, but also to actually visit architectural structures and experience their spaces. Also, good works cannot be created if they are conceived only in the mind. It is advisable to repeat the process of materializing ideas through sketches and study models.
The standard preparation and review time for this class is 4 hours each.

[Grading Criteria /Policy]
Comprehensive evaluation will be made on the final presentation based on the esquisse and interim presentation. The degree of depth and development of the proposal based on the essay will be an important evaluation target.
Distribution: 40% for the first assignment, 60% for the second assignment
More than 4 unexcused absences will not be graded.
