Outline (in English)
This course introduces basics of physics related to light, wave, atoms, etc.
At the end of the course, students are expected to understand
how various phenomena around us, such as mirage,
rainbow, aurora, etc., are explained from the fundamental laws.
Before and after each class meeting, students will be expected
to spend totally four hours to understand the course content.
Your overall grade in the class will be decided based on
the following: Term-end examination (80%) and in class
contribution (20%).

本講義では、形や色の認識、更には情報伝達手段として、日常生活の中でありふれた存在である一方で、自然界の法則を理解する上で重要な研究対象でもある “光” に関して学ぶ。
到達目標Goal
・光、色といった身の回りに日常的に起こっている現象と、その背後にある基本的法則を理解する。
・自然現象や我々の生活を支えている科学技術を理解するための基礎知識を身につける。
