Outline (in English)

In the history of Japanese language, especially I will focus on Okinawa-Kogo (the ancient Okinawa language) and explain the origin, grammar, and notation that symbolize Okinawa with comparing Yamato-Kogo (the ancient Yamato language).

Learning objectives of this class:
Learning the way to study for Okinawa-Kogo (Okinawa Ancient Language) written on literature helps developing your logical thinking ability and it helps to acquire the necessary skill and knowledge for writing graduation thesis.

Learning activities outside of classroom:
Before each class, students need to read the textbook and it helps to understand the class better. I recommend students to visit the Hosei University Institute of Okinawa Studies if they have a chance. As preparation and review of the class, students will be expected to spend about 2 hours to understand the course content.

Grading Criteria/Policies:
Your overall grade in the class will be decided based on the following:
Midterm Report (40%) & Report Test (60%).
