Outline (in English)

【Course outline】
The purpose of this course is to foster the acquisition of the ability to address issues in an aging society by deepening the understanding of the environment and various problems surrounding the elderly, through the acquisition of systems and basic knowledge related to the elderly.
【Learning Objectives】
1) Can understand and explain “aging” in an aging society.
2) Can understand and explain social structures and systems related to the elderly.
3) Can understand welfare policies and social systems for the elderly and is able to envision the welfare of the elderly.
【Learning activities outside of classroom】
As preparation for this class, students are encouraged to use newspapers, magazines, and other media on a daily basis to obtain information on the elderly and become familiar with technical terms. Furthermore, as part of the review, students organize and summarize the resumes and documents distributed during the lectures. The standard preparation and review time for this class is four hours for each session.
【Grading Criteria /Policy】
The final exam (90%) and in-class small report (10%) will be the basis of evaluation.
