Outline (in English)

【Course outline】
"Voluntary action” is not just a service activity, but a voluntary and proactive effort to solve local and social issues by various methods and create new value. This class will deepen the understanding of “Voluntary action” by giving an overall lecture and various practical efforts by inviting guests as needed and be an opportunity for each student to think about.

【Learning Objectives】
1.Understand the meaning and role of volunteers and NPOs, and their history.
2.Learn the significance of “Voluntary action” from both an academic and practical standpoint.
3.Recognize the problems faced by modern society and the region, and consider how to solve them while taking into account student's own experiences.

【Learning activities outside of classroom】
Prepare and review by using books to be introduced and handouts, and by researching the Internet etc. for examples of activities you are interested or fields taken in the lecture. In addition, recommend that you participate in the civic activities introduced in the lecture. The standard time to prepare and review is 2 hours each.

【Grading Criteria /Policy】
・Report (50%)
・Attendance and submission of assignments (50%)
