Outline (in English)
We will practice all four skills in this course but more focus is given on improving your speaking skills. In groups, you will discuss interesting and slightly more complex topics such as Geography, Education and Behavior. In addition, you have to regularly read and share news with your classmates. You are expected to do homework and prepare for One-minute Speech at home. It is essential that you participate actively in all tasks especially pair and group work. Therefore, your physical presence in the classroom is necessary and absenteeism is discouraged. Attendance is required to pass this course.

This course builds on the English skills students gained in English Communication 1.
到達目標Goal
The goals of this course are to:
1. get the students informed by reading and sharing the news on a regular basis
2. continue building students' confidence and fluency in speaking and speeches
3. teach students more complex useful words and expressions
4. give students more challenging practice at listening, reading and writing.

授業の進め方と方法Method(s)（学期の途中で変更になる場合には、別途提示します。 /If the Method(s) is changed, we will announce the details of any changes. ）
We will do the following in class:
1. checking of weekly workbook completion and news homework
2. sharing news in groups during One-minute Speech activity
3. Speaking, Listening, Reading, and Short writing practice
Students will know their scores immediately after submitting the Online Workbook homework as it is checked automatically. Those who do not have weekly news homework will lose points. A general feedback is given to the class after their speech and their scores written on a piece of paper. The final exam is returned to the students after marking.

One-minute Speech 10%
Online Workbook 10%
Final Exam 60% (Speech 20, Written Exam 40)
Students are considered absent if late for more than 30 minutes without a train delay slip. Maximum number of absences is 4.
