Outline (in English)
【Course outline】
The objective of this course is to develop students' basic English communication skills required in and out of the university campus. The skills covered in class include reading comprehension skills, critical thinking skills, and presenting skills on current events and topics of personal interest.
【Learning Objectives】
Students will be asked to read the texts about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and related issues, then to make a presentation with appropriately designed visual aids (Powerpoint slides) so that students can develop their presentation skills in English.
Besides, in each class, students are asked to complete various activities including writing scripts, peer reviews, and group discussions.
【Learning activities outside of classroom】
Students will be expected to complete the required assignments. Spending two hours to prepare and review the course content every week is ideal.
【Grading Criteria /Policy】
Grading will be based on in class contribution (40%), short reports (30%), and quizzes (30%). Students who miss 4 or more classes will be automatically disqualifed. The proper document is required for excused absence.

授業の概要と目的（何を学ぶか）Outline and objectives
大学や社会で必要となる基礎英語力として、時事問題や興味関心のある話題について、文書を読み、理解し、発表できる能力を伸ばし、習得する。
「持続可能な開発目標（SDGs)」と関連する様々な社会問題についてのテキストを英語で読み、プレゼンテーションを行うことで、実践的に英語力を向上させる。
到達目標Goal
持続可能な開発目標（SDGs）とそれに関連する問題についてのテキストを読み、プレゼンテーションを行うことで、英語による読解力、思考力、プレゼンテーション能力を身につける。
毎回の授業では、ペアワーク、グループディスカッションなどで自分の意見を作成・発表できる。また、相手の意見を受け止め、尊重することができる。
