Outline (in English)

【Course outline】 The purpose of this course is to cultivate basic
knowledge necessary for specialized seminars and practical training in the second year and beyond. Specifically, students will read literature on social issues, such as minority issues, nursing care issues, poverty issues, and abuse, and deepen their learning through group discussions.
【Learning Objectives】
1) Deepen the understanding on the issues to be studied by careful reading of literature and materials.
2) Conduct discussions within the group based on what has been learned to further deepen the understanding of issues.
3) Present what has been learned in the group and discover one’s own areas of interest through overall discussions.
【Learning activities outside of classroom】 Encourage the use of newspapers, magazines, and other media on a daily basis to foster students’ familiarity with various social issues. The standard preparation and review time for this class is four hours for each session.
【Grading Criteria /Policy】
Grading will be decided based on in-class contribution (50%), and the quality of the students’ performance in the class(Discussion, presentation, and report)(50%).
