Outline (in English)

【Course outline】
In this course, students will deepen their understanding of aging from diverse perspectives including social, economic, historical, regional, cultural, and welfare. In addition, by addressing and considering various issues related to aging, students will be able to clarify their “views about aging” in order to live the subjective age.
【Learning Objectives】
1) Can understand and explain aging from diverse perspectives.
2) Can address issues related to aging and think about wellbeing and aging.
3) Can clarify one’s own view of aging.
【Learning activities outside of classroom】
It is crucial to thoroughly perceive aging for deepening the learning in this course. Therefore, students are encouraged to read specialized books and literature related to social and cultural aging as part of their advance preparations more than usual. Furthermore, as part of the review, students organize and summarize the resumes and documents distributed during the lectures. The standard preparation and review time for this class is four hours for each session.
【Grading Criteria /Policy】
The final exam (70%) and in-class small report (30%) will be the basis of evaluation.
