Outline (in English)
This is an academic speaking course. The aim of the course is to develop the ability to communicate smoothly and clearly in English. Students will learn about a variety of useful conversational topics.
Through engaging with a range of conversation tasks, questions and answers, and small listening and writing tasks, students will build their speaking and listening skills and gradually develop the confidence to express themselves in English clearly and logically.

This is a pre-intermediate/intermediate course in oral English communication, aimed at building oral fluency, vocabulary, and the ability to discuss a range of conversational topics in English in a logical and coherent way. Extra emphasis will be placed on speaking and debating skills.

This class is designed to introduce students to discuss a series of topics. Classroom activities will focus primarily on speaking in pairs and small groups. Through engaging with a range of conversation tasks, questions and answers, and small listening and writing tasks, students will build their speaking and listening skills and gradually develop the confidence to express themselves in English clearly and logically.
Special emphasis will be given to speaking skills.
For motivational and skills development purposes, feedback will be given in the following ways:
1) Real-time in-class feedback on an individual basis, on pairwork, and on class performance
2) Students can request in-class and after-class feedback that can be done either orally or via email

As this is an intensive course, no work will be required outside of the classroom. However, it is advised that the students review the points they were less comfortable with at the end of the day.

The instructor will supply his own materials. However, for those who wish to purchase the textbook, the course will be based on Jack C. Richards and David Bohlke, Speak New 3, Oxford University Press, ISBN 978-0-19-403017-5

成績評価の方法と基準Grading criteria
Class Participation: 80%
Students will be monitored extensively in completing the conversation and communication tasks. The instructor will be constantly and actively monitoring pairs and groups of students and conducting one-on-one practice conversations.
The end-of-term test will be worth 20%
Unexplained absences will be penalized. The instructor assumes students will attend all 14 classes as a matter of principle.
Any unexplained absence will disbar the students from an A grade.
Unexplained lateness (arriving more than 5 minutes late after class begins) will be noted.
Persistent unexplained lateness will result in grade penalization.
