Outline (in English)

【Course outline】
 In recent years, remarkable literatures on Allied occupation of Japan proper and American occupation of Ryukyu (Okinawa) islands have been published. Political history of Japan 1 is an essay to revise and re-evaluate occupation of Japan. In this class, comparison perspective between occupation of Japan proper and that of Ryukyu (Okinawa) is used. Students must read a lot of articles, literatures, and historical documents.
【Learning objectives】
 The goal of this course is to understand political process of the Allied Occupation of Japan.
【Learning activities outside of classroom】
 Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend four hours to understand the course content.
