Outline (in English)

Companies, governments, and individuals contribute to attaining the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) agreed upon at the UN Summit in 2015. In this class, we will study the theoretical and practical aspects of corporate efforts to achieve the SDGs goals. Particularly, we shall invite guest speakers, including business managers and entrepreneurs who aspire to contribute to society and solve social issues, to talk about their efforts. They will discuss how corporate management and innovation should be from the perspective of addressing the SDGs. We shall also clarify the historical background of the emergence of the SDGs and their relationship with corporate social responsibility (CSR) and creating shared value (CSV). Based on this basic knowledge, we will consider the meaning and role of corporate efforts toward the SDGs goals in managing modern small and medium-sized enterprises and large corporations. In this lecture, we shall use case studies of companies that make social contributions in various fields, with participants from each company.
