The class will be conducted on-site at the Ichigaya campus. We will use active learning as follows:
Part 1 of each class: Focus on "classwork" questions from textbook (see Contents below)
15 minutes: Individual reflection based on Kolb's learning cycle
25 minutes: Pair work to compare each other's results
40 minutes: Group work to prepare a 2-minute presentation
20 minutes: Feedback on content and style of the presentation
10 minutes: Break
Part 2 of each class: Focus on "homework" questions from textbook (see Contents below)
15 minutes: Individual reflection based on Kolb's learning cycle
25 minutes: Pair work to compare each other's results
40 minutes: Group work to prepare a 2-minute presentation
20 minutes: Feedback on content and style of the presentation
NOTE: One-on-one feedback will be provided for each student on a rotational basis. The objective of the feedback is to support each student's learning - not to "test" the student. The structure of the feedback uses David Kolb's experiential learning cycle; experiencing, reflecting, conceptualizing and testing.

成績評価の方法と基準Grading criteria
Note: Minimum attendance required is 5 of the 6 days. Student performance will be graded as described below.
Classwork: 45%
Homework: 45%
Final exam: 10%
All classes will be held on-site. Classwork and homework must be submitted by the end of each class. You will submit the classwork and homework to me by the end of each class using a template that I will give you. You may submit your classwork in any form such as typed or handwritten print-outs or by email (dylan.scudder.67@hosei.ac.jp).
The classwork and homework each require answering 3-4 questions from the textbook each class. The classwork and homework assignments for each class are in the syllabus. Each classwork assignment and each homework assignment consist of one page (200-400 words), so the total number of pages you will submit for each class is two (400-800 words total).
There are no points for incomplete or late assignments.
In summary, if you submit all the classwork and homework on time, you can expect a correspondingly good grade.

The classes will be face-to-face. During class, students will discuss their answers to the questions in the textbook. This means that students should come to each class with their answers to the classwork and homework questions written on paper. The answers can be either typed or handwritten.
