Outline (in English)

【Outline and objectives】 The purpose of this course is to provide an understanding of the theory and practice of social mechanisms for ensuring the sustainability of the environment and local communities through various examples of environmental governance.
【Learning Objectives】 
 Students will study environmental governance in detail based on the discussions on consensus building, residency, subsistence, semi-cultivation, adaptive management, appropriate technology, negative heritage and regional regeneration, shrinking society, and urban-rural relations.
【Learning Activites outside of classroom】
Students are required to read the literature (articles, books) related to each issue. In addition, a summary of the video materials viewed during the lecture will be given outside of class time. The standard preparation and review time for this class is 2 hours each.
【Grading Criteria】
Reaction paper 40%.
Report 60%.
