Outline (in English)
【Course outline】
The aim of this class is to acquire basic knowledge of cost accounting area - the one which matters for the understanding about manufacturing business-. Hence, this class helps students understand what cost accounting is like by reading an introductory textbook written in English. The students who have ever unlearned accounting will be also welcome.
【Goal】
By the end of the course, students should be able to do the followings:
⑴To be able to explain the role of cost accounting.
⑵To be able to understand typical cost accounting methods.
⑶To be able to translate English sentences containing technical terms into Japanese.
【Learning activities outside of classroom】
Students will be expected to have completed the required assignments before and after each class meeting. Your study time will be more than four hours for a class.
【Grading Criteria】
Your overall grade in the class will be decided based on the following
Term-end report: 50%, Short reports: 40%, In-class contribution: 10%

授業の概要と目的（何を学ぶか）Outline and objectives
本授業の目的は、原価計算に関する基礎的な知識を身につけることです。製造業のビジネスを理解する上で原価計算に関する知識は、必要不可欠なものとなっています。この授業では、英語で書かれた入門書を読むことで、原価計算とはどのようなものかを理解してもらいます。会計を習ったことのない学生も歓迎します。
到達目標Goal
⑴原価計算の役割を説明できること。
⑵代表的な原価計算手法を理解すること。
⑶自分で単語や熟語を調べ、専門的な内容を含む英文を日本語訳できるようになること。

各回の授業は、次のような順番で進めていきます。
・⑴事前課題になっている単語リストの回答例を示します。
・⑵各回の課題（授業後アンケート）に関するコメントを行います。
・⑶指定した箇所の日本語訳を学生に発表していただきます。
・⑷鍵となる用語や手法について講師が解説します。必要に応じて計算練習なども行います。
・⑸指定したテーマでグループごとに議論を行なっていただき、代表者に発表していただきます。

授業時間外の学習（準備学習・復習・宿題等）Work to be done outside of class (preparation, etc.)
・準備学習（授業前にやるべきこと）は、⑴指定された単語の日本語訳を調べて指定の期日までに提出すること、⑵授業までに指定された箇所を通読することです。
・復習（授業後にやるべきこと）は、⑴授業で習った内容に関する簡単なアンケートに答えること、⑵授業で習った箇所を再度復習することです。
・本授業の準備学習・復習時間は、各2時間を標準とします。
