Outline (in English)
The main objective of this class is to help students become more comfortable with the actual use of English, especially in sport-related situations. In order to accomplish this, the majority of the class will focus on group discussion, speeches, and on-site exercises.

The goal is that students leave this class feeling more confident in their ability to speak English and learn a basic sport related vocabulary.

The class will primarily consist of group work that is followed by role-plays or speeches in front of the class. Prior to the work, I will give small lessons on the necessary vocabulary and grammar for the topic. During the sports topics and interest topic sections of the class, students will learn the vocabulary that is necessary for sports coaching, management, and basic science. Students will also choose and present a sports related theme, in which they are interested.

Students will be expected to do most of the work for their speeches outside of class. The homework will often be designed to help with preparing for speeches, reviewing past classes, or preparing for the next class. 本授業の準備学習・復習時間は合わせて 1 時間を標準とします。

参考書References
Reference materials will be handed out during class. Various learning websites will be used throughout the year. Students will be directed to the website at the time it is to be used.

Students will need to bring a notebook, loose paper, and a writing utensil to every class. Also, students need a Japanese-English dictionary (book or digital). Phone dictionaries will not be allowed.
