Outline (in English)
【Course outline】This course focuses on basic English skills needed in an academic setting. Not only receptive skills such as reading and listening but also productive skills such as writing and speaking are targeted. Students will have a good command of English by themselves if they comprehend English texts by treating them analytically and considering cultural aspects which will be given in the lectures.
【Learning Objectives】
By the end of the course, students should be able to do the followings:
1. To comprehend the each content of the news topics through CNN 10
2. To express the news content and one’s opinions about it in English
【Learning activities outside of classroom】
Input Week: Complete the followings in the textbook: Vocabulary, Vocabulary Exercise, Topic Paragraph
Output Week: Complete Comprehension Questions in the textbook
Review the content in each class and improve the four skills

授業の概要と目的（何を学ぶか）Outline and objectives
大学教育において必要となる英語力を身につけることを目指す。受信面の向上だけではなく、発信面の向上にも取り組む。英文を論理的に、時に文化的事情を踏まえ読解し、読解時に得た情報や知識を使い、発信していくことを身につけることで、自分の力で英語を駆使できる力を養う。

1. アメリカの学生向けニュース番組CNN 10のニュース内容を理解すること。
2. ニュースの内容や関連情報、および自分の意見を英語で発信できること。

○一つのUnitを二週に渡り扱う。偶数週はInput Weekとし、Vocabulary, Listening, Readingが主となる。奇数週はOutput Weekとし、Summary, Writing, Speakingが主たるアクティビティとなる。
○毎週伝える予習指示に従い、予習をしてくること。教科書内容は予習前提で行う。
○主にグループでアクティビティをする。

昨年度は、春学期がオンライン授業が主になり、秋学期は対面授業が主となった。授業形態を問わず、フィードバックの重要性を再認識することができた。フィードバックを提供する適切な瞬間とフィードバックの質を向上することを目指す。
