Outline (in English)

Course Outline
The main themes of this course are "respect for diversity" and "dialogue," which are necessary to realize the principles of symbiosis between humans and the environment, and between humans and humans. The aim of this course is to cultivate the thinking and communication skills necessary to form a collaborative network that contributes to society. Specifically, we will deepen our consideration of various themes through a collaborative process using a method called "philosophical dialogue". Each student will be free to set his/her own theme, and will have the opportunity to collect and present information as well as to facilitate the dialogue. At the beginning of each class, a mini-presentation on a social topic will be given. No philosophical knowledge is required for the dialogue.

Learning Objectives
In dialogue, the goals are (1) to express your own ideas, (2) to listen to the ideas of others, and (3) to think together with others. In addition, in presentations and facilitation, the goals are (4) to formulate questions based on your own interests, (5) to think critically about issues, and (6) to explain your own ideas to others and to promote collaboration with others.

Learning activities outside of classroom
Throughout the course period, please pay attention to the problems brought about by technology based on newspapers, movies, science fiction novels, etc., and consider them as problems that concern you. In addition, please take the time to think about the cases we will discuss in class before and after it, and formulate your own ideas. Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend four hours to understand the course content.

Grading Criteria /Policy
