Outline (in English)

(Course outline) Theme: Discussion about environmental problems in society from a viewpoint of human actions
In this seminar we consider environmental problems caused by a result of human actions in the earth. One of the points at issue is related to the evolution of science and technology in our society. The meaning of the “progress” for us is inquired here. Policy studies are introduced here. In the spring semester, discussion with common themes will be mainly held for all members of this seminar. Reports for the individual research of us will be introduced in the autumn semester. Students should examine practical instances expanded in society and its influence to our living beforehand. In class, they report prepared contents including their own opinions and suggestion. Discussion will be made by all of participants.
(Learning Objectives) At the end of this class, we are expected to have active sense to research execution. Skills of paper writing for each theme is expected to be acquired.
(Learning activities outside of classroom) We will be expected to spend two hours to prepare research report before each class. After it we need two hours to understand the content. The sum is four hours for each class.
(Grading Criteria /Policy) The grade of the class is decided with in-class contribution 60% and Mid- and End-term reports 40%.
