Outline (in English)

<Course Outline>
This seminar will learn the basics of Environmental compliance audits. In the 2022 academic year, we will examine several sustainability reports written in English.

<Learning Objectives>
The goals of this seminar are:
(1) to acquire the ability to write a graduation thesis in the 4th grade;
(2) to acquire English reading comprehension; and
(3) to learn the basics of environmental law in Japan and the United States.
In addition to the above, in order to improve basic skills, you are required to:
(1) recite conversational sentences in NHK radio course titled Business English for Global Competence;
(2) translate of the first page of the Japan Times;
(3) memorize "Today's Words" on Nikkei newspaper; and
(4) shadow PBS broadcasting programs.
Students are also encouraged to obtain the following qualifications: (1) Fundamental Information Technology Engineer Examination and (2) EIKEN Grade Pre-1.

<Learning Activities outside of Classroom>
Be sure to prepare and review using the materials introduced in each lecture. You are required to prepare for presentations at lectures, complete sub-seminars assignments. The standard preparatory study and review time for this class is 2 hours each.

<Grading Criteria/Policy>
Your overall grade in this course will be decided based on your in-class contributions (100%). If you are absent three times or more in both the spring and fall semesters, or if you do not prepare for presentations or do assignments, you will not be able to earn credits.
