Outline (in English)

The theme of this seminar is "the creation of sustainable community." In particular, we will approach synthetically about the social innovation of community in the 21st century from various viewpoints, such as environment, economy, society, culture, public policy, and SDGs. Moreover, we will take notice of participation and collaboration of citizen, NPO, local government, company, etc. Furthermore, we will work on community practice as advanced "active learning", with exploring "sustainable community" within the campus. Students aim at building comprehensive abilities as undergraduates through such challenges.

At the end of the course, students are expected to achieve the following goals:
(1)Acquire knowledge of sustainable community.
(2)Acquire problem-finding and problem-solving skills through
so-called “ PBL” methods
(3)Acquire academic skills for research and writing the thesis.
(4)Acquire communication skills, planning and management skills, and collaboration skills through active learning including community practice.

Students need to prepare and review each session by using textbooks and related materials, and to work on some assignments, some community projects in this seminar. Preparatory and review time for this seminar are 2 hours each.
Students are also required to research on individual interest and write a final report.

Your overall grade in this class will be decided based on the following:
Active class participation:40%, Contribution to local project:30%,Sort assignment and final report:30%
