Outline (in English)

【Course outline】
As adverse effects of climate change become far more serious recently, a new term "climate crisis" has become widely used. With the implementation of the Paris Agreement started in 2020, climate actions toward a zero-carbon society are globally accelerated more strenuously than ever before. Students can learn about UN climate negotiations, climate policies in and outside Japan as well as ambitious efforts to address this issue by non-state actors such as businesses, investors, municipalities and NPOs, which are considered to play pivotal roles to realize decarbonization.

【Learning Objectives】
Through this three-months course, students are expected to get familiarized with the climate issues and their countermeasures, becoming able to discuss it with others.

【Learning activities outside of classroom】
Two-hours learning before/after the class, respectively. A textbook will be used for pre-learning. When learning after the class, you can use a handout to be allocated every week.

【Grading Criteria/Policy】
