Outline (in English)

【Course Outline】
This course introduces an overview of the Faculty of Sustainability Studies, basic academic skills, and various approaches towards a sustainable society.

【Learning Objectives】
Through this course, students are expected to:
1. Understand the mechanism behind various issues pertaining to sustainability and consider practical solutions for them;
2. comprehend academic approaches (e.g., how the curriculum is organized, the characteristics of academic courses, and what seminars are), as well as the significance of specialization within the interdisciplinary faculty, through lectures by instructors with diverse backgrounds; and
3. clarify their own academic interests and gain knowledge that is essential to effectively select their academic course and classes.

【Learning Activities outside of Classroom】
Students are required to study before and after the class, using the materials introduced in class. Preparatory study and review time for this class are 2 hours each.

【Grading Criteria /Policy】
Participation (including the submission of reaction papers): 40%; Final exam 60%
