Outline (in English)

(Course outline)
Examining how think-tanks play a role in the political process, based on the understandings regarding the concept meanings and concrete structures of fundamental factors about public policy including policy process, political structure, politician-bureaucrats relationship and nation-society relationship.

(Learning Objectives)
*Grasping roles and functions of internal and external thinktanks in the policy process.
*Understanding characteristics and problems of public-policy-related factors including policy process, political system, politico-administrative relation and nation-society relation through a perspective of thinktank.
*Gaining a capability to logically explain a causation between thinktanks and other political factors in the context of public policy based on the scientific thinking of "constructing hypothesis → verifying it".

(Learning activities)
Standard times for preparation and review is two hours per each.
In preparation, reading articles presented in references is required.
In review, a thinking training to apply some thoughts or theories about thinktanks presented in the classes to the real political phenomena for understanding their structures is required.

Attendance, discussion(proactivity, analytical ability, critical ability, proposing ability): 40%
Report(analytical ability, logicality, novelty, simplicity): 30%
Presentation(analytical ability, logicality, novelty, simplicity): 30%
