Outline (in English)

[Course Outline]
This course is to introduce and give basic understandings of the Sustainable Development Goals, which is internationally agreed goals and strategies toward sustainable societies. Each class will consist of lecture, discussion among participants and guest speaker's lectures.

[Learning Objectives]
The SDGs, which have a global scope and include a variety of goals, some of which are expected to be difficult to achieve, are often thought of as being primarily the work of international organizations, governments, and NGOs/NPOs. However, the SDGs recognize the importance of the private sector and citizens as key players. As students learning about sustainable society, the goals of this lecture are (1) to have a basic knowledge of the SDGs and be able to explain them to others, and (2) to cultivate an awareness of being a party to the SDGs so that they can see the various issues listed in the SDGs as their own.

[Learning Activities outside of classroom]
The standard preparation and review time for this class is 2 hours each.

[Grading Criteria/Policy]
Grading will be based on a composite evaluation of 40% contribution points (attitude toward participation, content of comment papers, comments made in class, etc.), 30% presentation, and 30% final report.
