Outline (in English)
Environmental problems are physical, chemical and biological consequences and reactions on natural ecosystems caused by human activities. In order to understand "what is happening" and "what should be done", scientific knowledge is indispensable. In this lecture, students will learn the basics of science regarding mechanisms and countermeasures of environmental problems such as climate change, ozone layer protection, acid rain and resource problems such as energy and freshwater. The standard preparation and review time for this class is 2 hours each. Evaluation will be based on the final exam (100%) or report (100%).

授業の概要と目的（何を学ぶか）Outline and objectives
環境問題とは人間活動が自然生態系に及ぼす物理的、化学的、生物的な作用とその反作用である。「何がおきているのか」を理解し、「どうすればよいのか」を考えるためには、科学知識が欠かせない。本講義では気候変動を中心にしつつ、オゾン層保護、酸性雨など環境問題や、エネルギーや淡水などの資源問題について、発生メカニズムと対処に関する科学の基礎を修得し、地球規模や国境を超える環境問題に対処する基礎力を養うことを目指す。

以下を説明できるだけの科学的基礎力を養う。
人口増加と減少パターンの発生理由。
オゾンホールが南極上空にできる理由。
温室効果のメカニズムと気候変動の科学の不確実性。
日本では酸性雨の生態影響が顕在化していない理由。
生物多様性を保全しなければならない理由。
資源のもつ意味。
淡水、土壌、金属などの資源のもつ役割。
