Outline (in English)

(Course Outline)
This course deals with the basic concepts of nation-state and ethnic minority. It also deals with the relationship between culture and indentity in ethnic groups in the United States and Mainland China.
(Learning Objectives)
At the end of the course, participants are expected to (1)obtain basic knowledge about indigenous people of the United States and China, (2) enhance the concept and theory of ethnicity. Your study time will be two hours.
(Learning activities outside of classroom)
Before each class meeting, participants will be expected to have read the relevant chapter(s) from the text and prepared a resume . Your required study time is two hours for each class meeting.
(Grading Criteria/Policy)
Final grade will be calculated according to the following process: in-class contribution(70%)and term-end report(30%).
