Outline (in English)

(1) Course outline
In this seminar, students will explore issues related to culture and psychological functioning by reading more like anecdotal books and articles, and discuss how culture shapes psychological processes of people. Each student’s own experiences they have had in different cultures will be welcomed to deepen class discussions.
(2) Learning Objectives
One of the main objectives of this seminar is to understand how educational practices in a culture are intended to bring up children as culturally desired and also expected adults through the educational process of the culture.
(3) Learning activities outside of classroom
Students will be expected to spend 4 hours to understand the course content (2 hours each for before/after class meeting). Besides, students will be expected to spend their daily lives having course topics in the back of their mind.
(4) Grading Criteria/Policy
Final grade will be decided based on following:
In-class contribution (50%), Class-presentation (50%).
