Outline (in English)

【Course outline】
The main theme of this seminar is cultural research and we study the concept of “interculturality” as seen in the name of our faculty, “Intercultural Communication”. The purpose of our research is to examine the society where people from different culture or groups live together respecting each other through art. As a first step to achieve that, we learn “interculturality” as a base of cultural diversity. For example, our research questions are “how can art express culture?" and “how can art help to accomplish or determine culture?”. We discuss these questions reading relevant literature. In addition to the theoretical research based on the literature, we present works of contemporary art as a joint research theme in order to exercise “interculturality”. It is our mission to consider, through determining art, what we can do about the current situation where our culture is having difficulty surviving. While trying to answer this question academically through discussion, each member summarizes their own opinion as a thesis and express it as an installation.
