Outline (in English)

In this seminar we will learn how to analyze everyday cultural phenomena around us through active discussions among members, paying particular attention to the correlated, multitudinous, and multilayered structure of culture. The goals of the course are to acquire a better understanding of the issues of contemporary society and cultivate a critical attitude toward them. Students will be expected to have completed required assignments after each class meeting. The required study time will be more than four hours for a class. The overall grade will be decided based on in-class participation (50%) and submitted papers (50%).
