Outline (in English)

【Course outline】
This course introduces the art scene in German speaking areas and countries from the end of 19. century(modernism) to the present era: It deals with mainly fine arts (including architecture and handcrafts-design), theatrical arts as well as classical and popular music. In the course, we also focus on "Deutsche(German)" or "deutsch(german-like)" as concepts that we might to feel got understand but actually could hardly understand without reflection. The works in the classes would lead us also reconsideration about general ideas or way of categorical thinking like "Japanese" "Japan" or "like Japanese".
