Outline and objectives

English Application is an integrated 4 skills communication skills course with a focus on an English for Academic Purposes (EAP) or English for Specific Purposes (ESP) content area. Though Canada is the second largest country geographically in the world, it has a comparatively small population. This disparity makes Canada’s size both an asset and its challenge. In the Canadian Life course, we will look at those features that make Canada unique. Study topics will include First Nation/Aboriginal Peoples, Canadian Arts, Multiculturalism and English/French Culture.

Goal

The goal of English Application is to give Post-SA students a forum to continue to use and enhance their English Communication skills. The Canadian Life course explores Canadian culture and lifestyle and Canada’s development as a nation. Each class period will be divided into four parts: (a) a short lecture introducing the week’s topic, (b) Canadian fact sheet questions and answers, (c) a guided topical conversation, and (d) short readings and presentations. This course is designed for students to be actively involved in all in-class activities.

Which item of the diploma policy will be obtained by taking this class?

国際文化学部のディプロマポリシーのうち、「DP1」「DP3」に関連。
