Outline (in English)

【Course outline】
In today's world, where the traffic of people and information is increasing at an accelerating pace, it is no longer unusual for individuals with different cultural backgrounds to meet and build mutually understandable relationships.
When people from different cultures meet, what happens because of the different cultures in their backgrounds? What kind of knowledge and preparation is necessary to avoid the worst communication break? Through case studies based on actual examples, we will consider these questions from the perspective of communication.
【Learning Objectives】
By the end of the course, students should be able to do the followings:
1. To learn the major theories and concepts in the field of communication and gain an understanding of how culture affects our communication
2. To acquire knowledge that can be applied in actual cross-cultural contact situations
3. To gain multiple perspectives and develop the ability to improve relationships through inter-action with the "others”.
