Outline (in English)

(Course Outline)The aim of this course is to learn the basics of business knowledge and explore the background of English business styles which are becoming the international standard. How many people understood when Steve Jobs said, "Apple tries to be at the intersection of technology and the liberal arts"? The original Japanese translation was incorrect. What is the point of using two verbs with similar meanings in an English contract? Thus, understanding the original English is of paramount importance. In the U.S., there is a new corporate system called a Benefit Corporation, which is a private company that creates public benefit in the environmental and social fields. These companies try to synchronize external roles with employees' intrinsic motivational, Drive and Caring concepts. This course is designed to provide a three-dimensional understanding of the international macroeconomic situation surrounding corporations as well as the human condition by referencing the original English sources.
(Learning Objectives)Students are expected to master the concepts and background necessary for conducting business in English by exploring concepts such as Motivation 3.0, which is the basis of career design. We hope that this will help students grasp the concept of "Capable Communication" and "Management of Lifelong Learning and Career Development".
(How to Learn) In this on-demand course, students are expected to read the lecture materials distributed in the "Resources" section of the Learning Support System and submit a "Reaction Paper" (see "Grading") to the "Tests & Quizzes" section. Feedback will be given on student Reaction Papers at the beginning of each lecture. Individual business documents will be gone over in detail in each lecture. You will find out why it is important to read English documents with your eyes in the first lecture. You will learn the basics of communicating in English, various terms, and read bilingual translations of original short texts.
(Grading Criteria /Policies)Final grade will be calculated according to the following process: Reaction Papers on each lecture (80%), Final Examination (20%).
