This higher-level graduate course aims to help students practice fluency, formulate and exchange opinions and enhance critical thinking and reasoned decision making skills through the study of debate and presentation.
到達目標Goal
For students to develop critical thinking skills regarding the global political environment. Cooperative learning will be a main focus with students learning about various content areas from each other. Teamwork, autonomy, and research skills will be developed.

A variety of topical issues related to Global Politics will be examined, with students given the opportunity to investigate topics related to their own particular interests as the course progresses. In the early stages of the course, students will prepare for the debate process through topic identification,
research into that topic, both for and against a position, write either affirmative or negative case positions and anticipate problems with their positions and then present their position in formal class debates and presentations Following the debates, specific proposals will be written, discarding some of the weaker aspects of their position and incorporating some of the stronger aspects of the opposition. Finally, formalized debates will take place with a goal of seeking a solution agreeable to the interests of both parties.

This course will focus on cooperative learning. Students will research and prepare debates and presentations on various topics and learn from each other. The syllabus is flexible and subject to change. The choice of topics to be studied may change in line with the particular interests of the students.
