Outline (in English)

We face today global environmental problems such as global warming that cannot be addressed by one country alone; international cooperation is necessary. The purpose of this course is to therefore survey the history of environmental issues and their current status and to understand the international measures to tackle them, with a focus on global conventions.
Students in this class will be graded based on the following sum: several mini-tests (30%) and a final exam (70%). To earn credits, students are required to read a newspaper or watch TV programs and have an interest in real issues and environmental policy before each class.
The students need to review the contents of each class with the use of reference books to promote understanding basic knowledge, and also to broaden their views and interests through reading paperbacks on international environmental issues as well.
