Outline (in English)

Nature is indispensable for human survival; yet, natural ecosystems are being destroyed in the name of development. In order to regain ground and pass down a healthy ecosystem to future generations, we must actively conserve, regenerate, and create what is being depleted. In this course, students will study the background and philosophy of nature restoration, and learn about assessment methods and the technology of nature restoration. They will gain knowledge indispensable to become nature restoration promoters.
Students are expected to summarise the contents of the lecture with the handout distributed in advance. Students are also needed to search for reference books at Hosei university library and to find out the related information about the lecture content on the WEB, into achieving further their understanding.
Each instructor will grade reports or mini-tests of students who take the course. Then final grade will be evaluated twofold: whether you can understand the contents of the lesson and whether you can obtain the essential knowledge for passing the examination of assistant nature restoration.
