Outline (in English)

Green chemistry is the study of chemical products and processes that reduce or eliminate the generation of substances hazardous to humans, animals, plants, and the environment. This course covers basic fundamentals of green chemistry, through the 12 design principles of green chemistry, and explores relevant examples of their practical use in commercial applications.

The goals of this course are to
(1) be able to explain the 12 design principles of green chemistry,
(2) be able to explain relevant examples of their practical use in commercial applications.

Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend four hours to understand the course content.

Your overall grade in the class will be decided based on the following.
Term-end examination: 50%, Quiz: 20%, Short reports : 20%, in class contribution: 10%.
